Kobus was born and raised in Bellville, South Africa, as the second youngest of five siblings. After high school he followed in his dad’s footsteps by entering the ministry. He enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch and after six years of theological studies he obtained a bachelors degree in theology (BTh) in 1990. In 1991 he served as a chaplain in the South African Defense Force.
His first call was in 1992 to the beautiful city of Durban to serve as youth pastor in the Dutch Reformed Church, Port Natal. In 1996 his responsibilities changed to senior minister. He served the Port Natal church until 2003.
In 2003 Kobus, Anne-Marie, and family took the big step to relocate to Canada to serve as a minister in the two-point charge in Wainwright and Chauvin, Alberta.
His passion is the local church and his gift is to teach young and old how to discover and apply the essentials of the Bible in their lives. His teachings evolved into a teaching guide as well as two devotional books “From a Garden to a City.” He has recently published a second devotional guide “@Godstweet #FollowGod”.
