Here at Westminster we love meeting new people of all ages! Whether you are looking for a new church family or are someone seeking answers, we will welcome you with open arms. We have recently begun to meet again for in-person worship, with appropriate care to meet COVID guidelines. We also livestream the worship service so you can join us online (the button to reach us is on the home page of the website). Details of what in person worship looks like now are below.
We ask most people to come in through the front door. For those who need easier access, there will be handicap parking at the back door, and someone to let you in there. Once in, the arrival team will make sure everyone has a mask, and knows where the hand sanitizers are, and will direct you to a second greeter inside. That person will take down your name (unless you specifically request that it not be done): this is done so that should someone in our group test positive for COVID-19 within a few days of worship, AHS can notify anyone who may be at risk.
An usher will say hello and see you to your seat. We'll be able to use every second pew, and will be following a seating plan that both limits the number of times you pass by others, and maximizes the distance between different "bubbles" of people. This may mean that you don't get to sit in your favourite spot, but we hope we can all be as understanding as possible. We will continue to re-evaluate as we go and revise the process as needed as we go forward.
Some things will have to change in order to meet AHS guidance recommendations. For October, we will ask that children stay with us during the service. A team is preparing activity bags to keep them engaged during the service. We won't be able to offer nursery service for children under 2 until AHS guidelines allow us to do so.
The hymn books and other items in the pew racks have been removed to limit contact with items handled by others - so we will be using projected words and images during the service. We will also broadcast the service, so that those who cannot attend in person can still enjoy it. See the home page of the website for this option.
Offering will be taken through a "retiring offering" -- in other words, the plates will be placed at the exit doors from the sanctuary, and you'll be able to leave an offering there if you like.
Our members wear anything from dresses and ties to jeans and sneakers. So come in whatever you feel comfortable in - you will fit right in!
You are always welcome at Westminster!
