On Remembrance Sunday we take time to pause and remember lives lost to war, to honour those who served and sacrificed, and to renew our longing for a world shaped by peace. Our scripture readings speak to people living with uncertainty and waiting for what comes next. Paul reminds a grieving community that they do not grieve without hope, while Jesus tells a story about staying awake, keeping our lamps burning, and being ready. This Sunday, we’ll consider what Christian readiness looks like—not fearfully watching for what might happen, but faithfully living the life God has given us now. Our prayer today is that in a world still marked by conflict and loss, may we be found ready: holding onto hope, working for peace, and keeping the light burning.
Please come along to consider this with us, and, if you can, stay to share some conversation and refreshments after the service.
